Former Whiteville and UNCW baseball star Brooks Baldwin heading to the Major Leagues

Baldwin received the call up from the Chicago White Sox thursday

WHITEVILLE, N.C. (WWAY) – Another Whiteville High School ballplayer has made the show.

The three-time state champion will be soon playing for the Chicago White Sox, after Brooks Baldwin cruised through Triple-A in Charlotte for the Knights.

Below are his collegiate accolades at UNCW, per the Seahawks:

  • 2022 ABCA Second-Team All-Atlantic Region
  • 2022 CAA Player of the Year
  • 2022 First-Team All-CAA
  • 2022 CAA Preseason Player of the Year
  • 2021 ABCA Second-Team All-Atlantic Region
  • 2021 First-Team All-CAA selection
  • 2021 CAA All-Tournament team honoree

The White Sox do not play Thursday, but begin a road trip Friday in Kansas City.

Baldwin joins his high school buddy and teammate, Mackenzie Gore, who pitches for the Washington Nationals.
