American Legion Post 68 Leland hosts Mobile Veteran Center

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WWAY)–The John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68 welcomed a Mobile Vet Center van today at the end of their “Be the One” presentation.

This special presentation aims to raise awareness about Veteran suicide and provide support for Veterans and their families in Brunswick County.

The Mobile Vet Center offers confidential assistance at no cost, delivering support in a non-medical setting.

Services include counseling for depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other forms of military trauma.

Eric Mens, a Vietnam Combat Veteran and member of Post 68, understands the importance of such programs.

“Programs like this didn’t exist back then. It was very difficult to reach out for help if you had PTSD. Now, having these services come directly to the community is crucial. Veterans can access support on their own terms, making it vital for these services to be visible and accessible,” Mens said.

In addition to counseling, the Mobile Vet Center also provides emergency services in response to national emergencies and disasters, ensuring comprehensive support for those who have served.

Check out the “Be the One” program and the Mobile Veteran Center if you or a Veteran you know needs support.
