One critically injured in early morning traffic crash in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One person was critically injured in a three-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning near Gallery Park Boulevard and Independence Boulevard, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

First responders were dispatched to the scene shortly before 5 a.m. Upon arrival, they found three vehicles involved in the crash. The person who was critically injured was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The northbound lanes of Independence Boulevard were closed for nearly five hours as authorities worked the scene.
