Governor Advisory Council for Hispanic and Latino Affairs meet at UNCW
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Hispanic and Latino community gathered at UNCW Thursday to discuss issues and solutions within the community.
Governor Roy Cooper’s Advisory Council on Hispanic Latino Affairs made a trip to Wilmington Thursday. Along with members from UNCW and officials from New Hanover County to discuss needs within the local community. The council used the event as their once a month meeting as well as networking with local community members.
Mari McKenzie, a member of the Hispanic-Latino Council said events such as this are helpful for discussing issues and how to solve them.
“I think holding an event like this is, it brings together community. Here we are, we have our great county, New Hanover County working together with UNCW to bring this about. so, we’re very happy that we can do this,” McKenzie said.
Dozens of people attended the event with the networking happening before the meeting involving food, music and drinks.
