Women Organizing Wilmington protest proposed cuts to PBS
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Another group pushing to stop cuts is the Women Organizing Wilmington group, or “WoW.”
They met again outside of city hall to protest the proposed budget cuts to the National Endowment of the Arts and Humanities, which would include PBS and NPR.
Today, some showed up in costumes of President Trump and Rep. David Rouzer to call for legislators to vote against any cuts.
“It’s cheap to air public television and radio so I don’t see cutting the humanities and the arts to further beef up military.” WoW founding member Lynn Shoemaker said.
Shoemaker added that they intend to keep protesting to see changes in their area.
She says if you want to get involved, you can join every Monday at noon.
“Our office has received communications from many constituents regarding the President’s budget proposal,” Rep. David Rouzer (R-7th District) said in a statement to WWAY. “I appreciate all input from citizens of the 7th District. My focus remains on increasing funding for our military, border security and homeland security in order to better defend the homeland and project strength abroad.”
