Neighborhood plans amazing race to kick start Memorial Day weekend
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — There was some friendly competition this weekend.
Some neighbors in the Brunswick Forest community got together to have their own amazing race.
The race had multiple teams of three competing on bikes and kayaks around Brunswick Forest.
The teams were made randomly by pulling colors out of a bag. The teams were coordinated by matching bandannas.
Tee Leffin, a resident of Brunswick Forest, was one of the race organizers.
Leffin said that it only took them a few hours to put together the race and activities to go along with it.
Leffin also said this was fun way for her and her friends to kick off Memorial Day weekend together.
“We had just been sitting around talking about how we wanted to do something like this every month or every other month because it’s different, it’s exciting and it’s challenging,” said Leffin. “Everyone was like, yeah let’s do something that is kind of out there that we can exercise and have fun.”
It was a winner took all race.
Everyone that competed had to pay five dollars to join in on the fun and the winning team split the earnings.
