Wonder Woman fans celebrate 75 year legacy

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The new Wonder Woman movie released this week and a group of fans spent Saturday celebrating the super hero and pop culture icon.

Fanboy Comics held an event featuring free comics for customers, tiara and bracelet sets, games, comic specials, and door prizes.

Owner Thomas Gilbert says this is the first ever celebration of the 75 year legacy of the amazon princess and he wanted to be a part of it.

“I think it’s important to have good diversity in comic books,” Gilbert said. “We need to have more female characters. Even more younger readers which I think Wonder Woman is a good way to bring that in.”

Fanboy Comics was at Regal Cinemas of Mayfaire Thursday for the premiere of Wonder Woman.
