Students to return to Southport Elementary School on modified schedule Monday

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County Schools says the last school still doing remote learning will see students return to the classroom soon.

Southport Elementary School will resume in-person learning on a modified schedule starting Monday, October 7.

Doors will open for students at 8:00 am, and the school day will begin at 8:20 am. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

To accommodate ongoing traffic delays in Southport, BCS will dismiss students at 1:00 pm.

Parents who have expressed concerns about the early dismissal on the school survey will be contacted individually by the district to discuss alternative arrangements.

The YMCA will continue to offer its afterschool program from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

BCS will continue to work with NCDOT to monitor road conditions and will return to a normal in-person schedule as soon as possible.
