HAPPENING FRIDAY: Mask Fur Aid Ball to benefit animals in need

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Coastal Animal Rescue Effort is bringing back its annual fundraiser after a pandemic-related hiatus.

The Mask Fur Aid Ball is happening this Friday, promising to be the event of the Halloween season for animal lovers and partygoers alike. Hosted by C.A.R.E. Wilmington, the masquerade-themed fundraiser will feature live music, dancing, and a variety of auction items, with all proceeds going toward helping animals with medical needs.

Dr. Laurie Parish, with C.A.R.E. Wilmington, says those auction items will include around 40 masks designed by local artists.

“We’re auctioning them off prior to the event,” Parish said. “That way if people want to auction and get them prior to the event, they can wear them.”

In addition to the mask auction, guests will have the chance to participate in both live and silent auctions offering a variety of prizes, including a 12-month restaurant package, self-care bundles, and themed packages for men and children.

Proceeds from the ball will benefit C.A.R.E. Wilmington’s mission to help homeless or surrendered animals with medical needs. The organization, operated through Atlantic Animal Hospital, provides essential medical care for animals that other shelters may not have the resources to treat, ultimately preparing them for adoption.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. at The Terraces On Sir Tyler, with entertainment provided by local DJ duo the Beehive Blondes. Guests are encouraged to wear cocktail attire and masquerade masks, and tickets are available through C.A.R.E. Wilmington’s website, Facebook, and Instagram pages.

For those unable to attend, donations can still be made online at carewilmington.org, with funds going directly to support CARE Wilmington’s efforts to provide medical care for animals in need.
