Maple Hill man charged after multiple people found shot

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — The Pender County Sheriff’s Office says one man is in custody for a shooting that killed one person and injured others.
On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 12:29 a.m., the Pender County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in the 1100 Block of Maple Hill School Road in the Maple Hill area.
When deputies arrived, they located three individuals who had been shot.
Two of the injured were transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center and one person was transported to Novant Health Pender Medical Center.
One of the injured died due to their injuries.
Jesse Conroy Watkins, age 67 of 1122 Maple Hill School Road was arrested and has been charged with one count of Murder, two counts of “Assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury,” two counts of “Assault with a deadly weapon,” and “Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.”
