Shooting investigation at Carolina Beach Road Walmart
Officials say one victim is shot. The shooter has been caught.
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY)– The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly shooting at Walmart Super Center in Monkey Junction off Carolina Beach Road.
The Sheriff’s Office says just before 6:00 p.m. several employees of the Walmart at 5135 Carolina Beach Road attempted to stop a man from shoplifting when a fight occurred.
The suspect brandished a firearm and fired one shot, hitting a Walmart employee.
The victim died at the scene.
The suspect fled Walmart and was confronted in the parking lot by a sheriff’s deputy and then taken into custody. The Sheriff’s Office says the suspect is no longer a threat to the public.
