North Carolina man facing murder, bank robbery, weapons charges after Conway robbery
Conway, S.C. (WPDE) — A 32-year-old North Carolina man is facing numerous charges, including two counts of murder, in connection with the deadly bank robbery that happened in Conway on Monday.
Brandon Michael Council, 32, of Wilson, N.C., will be charged with two counts of murder, entering a bank with the intent to steal, grand larceny, armed robbery, possession of a weapon in the commission of a violent crime and felon in possession of a pistol, according to 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson.
On Tuesday, Conway police named him as a person of interest in the case.
Council was arrested Wednesday in Greenville, N.C., without incident, according to Richardson.
Greenville Police Department spokesperson Kristen Hunter told WCTI he was arrested shortly after the department received a tip from someone who recognized the car Council was driving from the news.
Hunter said Council attempted to run after being pulled over, but was quickly captured by GPD officers.
Council was also wanted in connection with another bank robbery in Wilson, N.C.
We have asked officials if Council will have to face those charges in North Carolina first, or if he will be immediately extradited to South Carolina to face the charges out of Conway.
Police say Council killed Donna Major, 59, of Conway, and Kathryn “Katie” Skeen, 36, of Green Sea, during the robbery.
