Tre Houser shines on Wilmington’s biggest stage
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In the game of the year, Tre Houser stepped up his game to ensure the win against cross-town rival New Hanover clinching our final Player of the Week.
“I was kind of surprised to be honest with you,” Houser said. “I thought Josh was going to get it because he threw the ball. I couldn’t do it without him.”
No Tre couldn’t do it without Josh but Hoggard couldn’t do it without #5. Six catches for 101 yards and the first two touchdowns in the 34-7 win for the Mideastern Conference crown.
“It was pretty good,” Houser said. “It was probably my best performance in my high school career to be honest with you. It was kind of unexpected to be honest with you. My number was called and I made plays. Josh threw a good ball to me two times. I have to congratulate him too.”
While we’re handing out congratulations, we may have never seen how good Tre can be on a football field if it weren’t for one person.
“My brother, Coach Houser,” Houser said. “He played football before me and I always liked it because he was always a good role model for me. He kind of taught me the ropes. I’m not the biggest on the field or the fastest but he taught me to use what I have and just do it to the best of my ability.”
Tre says he wants to continue his career after this season at any college level, as long as he keeps playing the sport he loves.
We know he’ll represent well!
Congratulations to Tre Houser on being named our final 5th Quarter Player of the Week.
