C.B. McGrath excited for first real game with UNCW

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New UNCW men’s basketball coach C.B. McGrath got a taste of what it is like to be a head coach in college basketball last weekend, but Saturday he will coach in his first full regular season game against NC Wesleyan.

Today at his weekly news conference, Coach McGrath spoke about that excitement but he says that it hasn’t quite hit him yet. What has hit him is the impact Devontae Cacok has on his team.

After his solid performance in the jamboree last weeked in Chapel Hill, many of McGrath’s former colleagues at UNC talked about how impressed they were with the junior forward.

While last weekend was a good starting point, the focus shifts to the game this weekend and making sure the team starts on the right note.

“We’re just preparing on playing our best and making sure we know what we want to execute in our game plan whether it’s Wesleyan, Davidson or the Boston Celtics,” McGrath said. “We want to make sure that we know what we need to do to be successful. Not necessarily what they do to be successful but what we need to do.”

You can see Coach McGrath and the Seahawks live in action Saturday at Trask Coliseum starting at 7 p.m. Then on Sunday make sure to tune into the C.B. McGrath show for analysis and highlights from the action.
