John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68 blood drive

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — WWAY hosted the winter blood drive with John E. Jacobs American Legion Post 68 in Leland Friday.
According to American Red Cross, the nation is facing the lowest number of people giving blood in 20 years.
The drive began at 10 Friday morning and ended at 2:30 Friday afternoon where they accepted walk-ins and pre-registration. For more than 20 years Leland resident David Bieler has been donating blood.
“Every 8 to 10 to 12 weeks, depending which way you give, you can help somebody. You don’t have to do anything other than sit and relax so what better way to do it. Everybody else should do it, if you can, you should do it, it’s as simple as that,” Bieler said.
In total, 46 units of blood were collected at the blood drive Friday.
