PAL Cross City Championship game is a swish
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Now that Trask Coliseum isn’t occupied for a while, the Wilmington Police Activities League took over the gym for their Cross City Championship Game this evening.
It was a big matchup between the Brigade and the defending champion Community Boys and Girls Clubs. The 10-13 year olds are all coached by volunteer police officers from WPD and their season all led up to this.
Thanks to the partnership PAL and the UNCW College of Health and Human Services has, these kids get to play on the same stage UNCW stars like Devontae Cacok and Lacey Suggs do.
Game aside, the PAL league is a gang prevention program for these kids and they are scoring more than just baskets.
“I just hope that their trust with us grows,” PAL Coordinator Deborah Wolfson said. “I also hope they learn great sportsmanship and just have fun. That’s what tonight is really all about.”
Now at the end of the night, winners were crowned! Congratulations to the Community Boys and Girls Club on their big win and way to go for everyone involved.
