Cape Fear Community College launches Natural Hair Care program

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Cape Fear Community College is launching a new cosmetology program specifically a natural hair care specialist program.

The sixteen-week course will focus on non-chemical hair care techniques such as braiding, twisting, locking, and extending natural hair.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to take the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetics arts licensing exam for natural hair care specialists.

Program director, Crystal Clark-Davis, shares why there’s a demand for this class.

“There’s not one in the area. The closest one is in another county. So, we constantly get calls on hey do y’all offer this type of class. We had an opening space for it, so I was like let’s run it this spring. We’ve had quite a bit of students interested in it and have already registered for the class,” Clark-Davis shares.

Classes will be held Monday through Thursday on Cape Fear Community College’s North Campus.
