NCEM using FEMA funds to elevate 20 buildings in Carolina Beach

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — North Carolina Emergency Management will be using FEMA funds to elevate 20 structures in the Town of Carolina Beach.

According to a press release, the properties are located in a hurricane flood-prone and wind-borne debris region and are susceptible to frequent flooding.

The proposed activities will mitigate any future flood-related loss and provide 100-year flood protection.

The properties chosen are:

  • 400 Block of Columbia Ave
  • 500 through 1500 blocks of Canal Dr.
  • 200 Block of Georgia Ave.
  • 500 through 1700 Blocks of Carolina Beach Ave. N.
  • 1600 block of Snapper Ln.
  • 200 Block of Lake Park Blvd. N.
  • 100 Block of Maryland Ave.
  • 1100 Block of Lake Park Blvd. S
  • 300 Block of Florida Ave
