Dockside Seafood House in Calabash closes after 70 years
CALABASH, NC (WWAY) –A longtime waterfront restaurant in Calabash has closed after seven decades in business.
Dockside Seafood House, located on Nance Street, recently announced the closure in a social media post thanking patrons for their support over the years.
According to the family, maintenance issues at the facility and a decline in revenue contributed to the decision to close. Michael Price, the eldest grandchild of the original owner, said no one in the family is able to take on the restaurant’s operations.
“It’s a 7 day a week job. You can’t be an absentee owner. You have to be there to make sure your operations are where they need to be,” Price said.
“It’s always disappointing when you have a legacy, so to speak — something your grandmother and grandfather started — and you know the era has ended.”
Price said the restaurant is not for sale at this time. The family is taking time to consider next steps.
