MacKenzie Gore returns in hitless fashion
FORT WAYNE, IN (WWAY) — MacKenzie Gore made his first start following his most recent stint on the disabled-list yesterday and he showed flashes of his Whiteville dominance once again.
It was a short but sweet return to the mound for the former Whiteville star.
Gore got his first full season back on track with two innings of work for the Fort Wayne Tincaps yesterday. He faced eight batters in the two frames, striking out three, walking one and picking off another. It was his only hitless start of the season.
In total this year, Gore has 10 innings pitched with 13 strikeouts for Fort Wayne and he says it felt great to get back on the mound for the Tincaps.
“It’s the best I’ve looked for sure,” Gore said after his start Sunday. “I felt comfortable in all four starts, but I threw the best I have all year today. Honestly when I’m at my best, I pitch with an edge and I didn’t really have an edge my first three starts. So there was no frustration, just me going out there and competing trying to help the team win.”
Fort Wayne got the win and Gore said the time off helped his hand heal and hopes that he should be good for the remainder of the year.
