A Severe Thunderstorms Warning was issued by the National Weather Service around 3 p.m. Thursday when the storms were tracking south into New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick counties.
Many snapped a shot of an erie-looking cloud feature. They are known as “arcus clouds” or “shelf clouds” . The feature is a low, horizontal wedge-shaped cloud, typically associated with a thunderstorm gust front.
