Brunswick County man wins $1 million in second-chance lottery drawing

SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County man won the top prize in a second-chance drawing.  

With more than 4.1 million entries, Gary Godwin of Shallotte won the $1 million prize in the Millionaire Maker drawing in the beginning of June.  

The drawing awarded one $1 million top prize, one $100,000 prize, and 20 $500 prizes.  

Godwin could choose to receive the prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. He decided to take the lump sum of $600,000 and after state and federal taxes, he took home $430,500.
