Adult and 3 juveniles charged after string of car break-ins in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man and 3 juveniles face charges after a string of car break-ins in Monkey Junction.

Deputies stopped a stolen vehicle ten days ago and found stolen property inside, including three guns.

21-year-old Joshua Zanders faces more than 40 charges, including multiple charges of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and first-degree burglary.

His bond is set at $600,000.

The juvenile’s charges have not been released.

The sheriff’s office says all the thefts involved unlocked vehicles.

In a previous interview, Wilmington Police Lieutenant Greg Willett spoke about the dangers of storing guns in vehicles.

“Those firearms are being used to commit robberies and shootings,” Willett said. “So we at WPD just want to remind people to please lock your car doors all the time, but especially this time of year.”

The sheriff’s office said they will be contacting victims to return the items that were stolen.
