Bottle of whisky sells for more than $1 million

(CNN) — It’s the Dom Perignon of whisky, a bottle worth sipping with an auction price of more than a million dollars.

The bottle of Macallan 60-year was distilled in 1926.

The spirits aged and aged and aged — through the Great Depression, World War II, and the entirety of the Cold War.

Finally, the scotch whisky was bottled in 1986 and sold in 1994 for $27,000.

The dawn of a new century came and went, and after more than two decades it was sold again.

The private collector paid $1.1 million for it — over phone, by the way.

According to Forbes, that price makes it the most expensive standard bottle of whisky to sell at auction.
