Two rescued after boat takes on water near Bald Head Island

BALD HEAD ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The U.S. Coast Guard Station Oak Island rescued two people after their 12-foot jon boat began taking on water near Bald Head Island.

According to the Coast Guard, one person was found in the water clinging to a cooler, while the other remained on the partially submerged boat.

Crews responded and brought both people back to safety.  The Coast Guard towed the boat back to shore.

The Coast Guard has not released the names of those rescued.
