Truck brings needed food and supplies to families
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Hundreds of families are still in need in Pender County after Hurricane Florence. Many got a helping hand and some much needed resources Thursday.
Pender County Christian Services and Hendrick Automotive partnered with the feed the children project and sponsored a truck to bring boxes of food and toiletries to help families in the area.
As much as this may help, people in the area say more assistance is needed.
“There’s still a long recovery ahead of us,” Olivia Dawson, Pender County relief and volunteer coordinator, said. “Some things are getting back to normal yes, but for many, it is not back to normal. There’s still going to be volunteers needed. We need supplies. We’re transitioning it maybe into, from food supplies to what we’re going to need next, building supplies.”
Many of the volunteers say with the holidays so close, it’s important to help out these families as much as possible to help them get back on their feet.
