Additional details announced following multi-vehicle accident in Oak Island

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Oak Island released more details about the multi-vehicle accident that killed one driver in Oak Island.
The town says that a Toyota Rav 4 driven by Kathryn Scullion, 67, crossed the center lane while traveling east in the 2600 block of East Oak Island Dr. and collided head-on with a Jeep Wrangler driven by Steve Settle, 65.
A third vehicle, an Audi Q7, was traveling in front of the Jeep Wrangler and swerved to avoid impact, sustaining minor damage to the driver side.
The town says that the initial cause for crossing the center lane is unknown, however there were no indications of obvious impairment.
As first responders arrived on scene, all drivers were conscious and responsive, with Scullion unable to unlock and exit the vehicle.
Officers were able to break the rear passenger window to gain access to unlock the doors, allowing crews with the Oak Island Fire Department to render immediate aid.
Kathryn Scullion and Steve Settle were transported by Brunswick County EMS to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center where Scullion was later pronounced dead.
Settle remains in New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he is still being treated for injuries.
