Columbus County Sheriff’s Office now accepting applications for Citizens Academy

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for its upcoming Citizens Academy, scheduled to begin September 16th.

According to a press release, it will be a free, 10 week program that will offer citizens a behind-the-scenes look at how the sheriff’s office operates, with in-depth sessions led by deputies, investigators, detention staff, and specialized units.

Participants will meet once a week, every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

To be eligible to participate, applicants must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be able to pass a background check
