Rocky Point man arrested on multiple child exploitation charges

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — Detectives with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Rocky Point man on multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Justin Dale Furr, 46, was taken into custody Aug. 13 and initially charged with seven counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to the sheriff’s office. Investigators said Furr had been sending and receiving inappropriate messages online related to child sexual abuse material.
Since his arrest, Furr has been charged with 13 additional counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
The Pender County Sheriff’s Office said it received assistance in the investigation from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and U.S. Probation.
Officials also confirmed that Furr is a registered sex offender due to a similar out-of-state conviction.
