Inaugural Taste of Truckz food festival fundraiser held at CFCC

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Saturday is the inaugural Taste of Truckz food festival fundraiser hosted by the Genesis Block Foundation. 

The Taste of Truckz event hosted local food trucks and vendors along with beer and wine tastings. There will also be live music and a kids’ area.  

All funds raised from this event will go directly to the Genesis Block Foundation’s newest project, the Block Eatz campus. This will be a place where individuals can receive help and support to start their own businesses and become entrepreneurs in the community.  

Board Fundraising Chair at Genesis Block Foundation Lisa Weeks hopes this will be the first of many more events like this to come, all to give back to and support the community.  

“That’s our goal, is to build from this and have it every year, and it get bigger and better, and greater and greater. We got our foot in the ground with the first one and hopefully it will be an annual event,” said Weeks. 

7 food trucks took part in this year’s festival, a number Weeks said she hopes continues to grow.
