Halloween spirit comes early to Wilmington with store opening

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Halloween is less than 60 days away and some have already started to get into the spirit by decorating their homes and others think it is too early. 

The seasonal retailer, Spirit Halloween opened their doors on College Road in Wilmington in mid-August.   

People have been stopping by to check out their latest and trending spooky items.   

Some popular items so far this year include ghost face items, tote bags and tumblers. Animatronics are also a hit. 

 Sales associate Adriana Ward says, they’ve seen a lot of shoppers since they opened. 

“There was a lot of people, we did open it a lot sooner than people thought so we didn’t have all of our stock out. We did notice that a lot of people were asking a lot of questions about ‘when is this going to be in? When is this going to be in?’ especially with Tik Tok. It blew up, Spirit Halloween this season for some reason blew up,” Ward said. 

Ward adds they also collect donations through the Spirit of Children foundation where 100% of the proceeds go directly to the children’s hospital and child life departments.
