CFA picks up 3-1 road win against North Brunswick

LELAND, N.C. (WWAY) — Cape Fear Academy volleyball shook off their first loss of the season by going on the road and taking down North Brunswick 3-1 Monday.
The set scores were 25-17, 25-11, 18-25, 25-20.
Frankie Osborne led CFA with 12 kills and five aces. Mary Ryan Campbell notched 32 digs while Lila Hammer recorded 19 assists to lead the Hurricanes. Bertie Brooks earned a double-double by picking up 15 assists and 12 digs.
CFA had struggled to close out games this season after winning the first two sets, losing their last matchup in that exact manner. However, the Hurricanes persevered and rallied to prevent another decisive 5th set.
“In that 4th set, we definitely brought back our energy and made sure that nothing hit the ground,” Brooks said. “I think we trusted each other more and had a lot more confidence in ourselves. Once we started getting consistent kills and great serve receive passes, I knew that we definitely had a great chance to win the match.”
