WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — With Carolina Coast Conference play beginning on Tuesday for boys soccer, New Hanover made the most of it with a 3-0 home win over North Brunswick.

The game was scoreless at halftime. Around the 44th minute, Tre Bennett collected a throw in and managed to score off the keeper’s hands. He would tally another just 18 seconds later.

Bennett later converted a penalty kick to complete the hat trick. All three goals happened in a span of six minutes flat.

“It’s just a team effort,” Bennett said. “We pushed and it was 0-0 at half. That was really unacceptable for us. Just came out the second half and gave it our all. Very important. We needed this win. It’s going to carry on into our other games.”
