32 arrested in major drug trafficking investigation in New Hanover County

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A nine-month investigation into a narcotics trafficking network in southeastern North Carolina has resulted in 32 arrests, more than 200 charges, and the seizure of drugs, weapons and contraband, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation, called Operation Due Date, was carried out Sept. 16–17 in partnership with the State Bureau of Investigation, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office, Wilmington Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Authorities say more than 37 people were involved in the network, which met the criteria under North Carolina law for a Continuing Criminal Enterprise. More than 100 law enforcement officers executed six search warrants, recovering fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, synthetic drugs, firearms and cash.

Arrests and Charges:

  • Rynell Solomon — 35 charges, including trafficking opium, conspiracy to traffic fentanyl, solicitation to commit assault with a deadly weapon; held on $2,070,000 bond.
  • Maurice McKinnon — 24 charges, including continuing criminal enterprise, trafficking opium, conspiracy to traffic opium; held on $3,005,000 bond.
  • Michael Peters — 4 charges, including continuing criminal enterprise; $15,000 bond posted.
  • Daquan Ellison — 4 charges, including Level III trafficking opium, conspiracy to traffic opium; held on $1,500,000 bond.
  • Maurice Whitfield — 4 charges, including Level III trafficking opium, conspiracy to traffic opium; held on $800,000 bond.
  • Demant Crews — 22 charges, including trafficking opium and possession of a firearm by a felon.
  • Kejuana Halsey — 2 charges, including trafficking opium and conspiracy to traffic fentanyl.
  • Christopher Williams — 1 charge, conspiracy to traffic opium.
  • Amiracle Teachey — 9 charges, including trafficking opium/heroin and conspiracy to traffic opium/heroin.
  • Jamal Grady — 8 charges, including trafficking opium/heroin.
  • Terrance Murphy — 1 charge, trafficking opium/heroin.
  • Tamatheus Brown — 6 charges, including conspiracy to traffic opium.
  • Terry Pellom — 6 charges, including trafficking marijuana.
  • Doryll McKoy — 2 charges, including solicitation to commit felony.
  • Isaiah Crews — 6 narcotics-related charges.
  • Travis Crews — 5 narcotics-related charges.
  • Marion Holt — 10 narcotics-related charges.
  • Ronald Brunson — 10 narcotics-related charges.
  • Kayla Scism — 4 narcotics-related charges.
  • Nicholas McDuffie — 2 narcotics-related charges.
  • Tyre Johnson — 5 narcotics-related charges.
  • Anthony Hewett — 2 narcotics-related charges.
