WHITEVILLE, N.C. (WWAY) — The Wolfpack are known for being one of the most consistent football programs around and nothing seems to be changing that in 2025.

Whiteville suffered a pair of non-conference losses, but are sitting at 4-2 a week into Southeastern Conference play. This off a year they made the state semifinals, averaging six points more per game compared to this season.

When things have been difficult, Head Coach J.P. Price says it allows them to open the playbook a bit more.

“My father comes out here in pre-practice and we’ve put in a lot of passing concepts. Really when our run’s been shut down a couple times, we’re able to throw the football. So maybe it’s not the 40-45 points, but it’s enough offense to spread people out when they want to get in the box. If you can do both of them, it’s a big plus.”

The Wolfpack are gearing up for a massive test against South Brunswick, who is riding a four game win streak.

Whiteville’s players say they are not afraid to go up against a bigger school just now seeing the success that the Wolfpack are accustomed to.

“If you practice hard, then the games come easy,” senior wide receiver Corey Faison said. “Everyone expects South Brunswick to come in because they’re 5A and we’re just a little 3A. We put in the work and we’re just going to show on Friday. We’re not going to do any talking. Going to show it on the field.”

Being as consistent a program as they’ve been, Price says they won’t stray away from what’s kept them there.

“For us, it’s just come to work each day, prepare the right way,” Price said. “We don’t overlook anybody. The next game up is the biggest game. That’s the mentality that we’ve had. We got to show up and play, put it on the field and execute. It all comes down to execution and players making plays.”
