Skydiver needed rescue after landing in coastal marsh near Oak Island

OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Oak Island responded to a call from a skydiver who overshot their landing area and ended up in the coastal marsh near Oak Island.

The Town says that this was their first jump and the skydiver remained calm, collected their chute, and was able to signal to our search drone that they were uninjured.

The Oak Island Fire Department, Oak Island Police Department, Oak Island Water Rescue, and Brunswick County EMS all worked to locate, retrieve, and provide medical evaluation, allowing for a total response time of less than 30 minutes.
