WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Travelers passing through Wilmington International Airport will now be greeted with live local music as part of a new program called “ILM Rhythms & Tunes.”

Airport officials say the in-terminal series showcases musicians from across the Cape Fear region, with artists performing two-hour sets post-security near the laurel oak sculpture.

“Our community is known for having great live music and lots of local talent,” ILM Airport Director Jeff Bourk said in a news release. “By showcasing these local artists in ILM, we have a chance to highlight that talent right here in the airport. It’s also another way for us to continue to enhance the traveler experience.”

According to a news release, ILM has seen record-setting growth, marking 51 consecutive months of increased passenger traffic. Airport leaders expect to serve more than 1.7 million passengers in 2025, with a 65% increase in available seats in the market over the past three years.

The live music program aims to offer a warm welcome for arriving visitors and a relaxing send-off for departing passengers.

“Airports are known to be the first impression and last impression on visitors, so this music program is another way for us to reinforce the great experience they have when visiting Wilmington and our Island Beaches,” Bourk said.

A schedule of upcoming performances is available here.
