BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County man was convicted of trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking fentanyl, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

James Broome pled guilty and a Brunswick County Superior Court Judge sentenced him to at least 7 and a half years in prison with a maximum sentence of 10 years. Broome was also ordered to pay a $150,000 fine.

Broome was the target of a drug trafficking investigation by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

In March, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s SWAT team executed a search warrant on Broome’s home. Agents located over 200 grams of methamphetamine, 7 grams of acetyl-fentanyl, and two handguns.

Broome was previously convicted of felony possession of a stolen firearm and thus prohibited from possessing any firearms.
