Brunswick Community College president earns award of excellence

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — The president of Brunswick Community College was presented with the Award of Excellence in Community Service by the Southport-Oak Island Kiwanis Club.

Dr. Gene Smith was recognized for his visionary leadership in higher education and his ongoing commitment to expanding educational access and student success according to the college.

The award was presented at a gathering on campus where members of the BCC Trustees, senior leadership, and family attended.

“The achievements acknowledged by this award are the result of a collective effort,” said President Smith. “I am fortunate to work alongside talented and passionate faculty, staff, and trustees who care deeply about our students and their futures. I am also grateful for my wife and family, whose constant support makes everything possible. This recognition reflects what we can accomplish when we work together in service of our community.”
