Southport Fire Department responds to rollover accident with person entrapped

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Monday night the Southport Fire Department responded to a single vehicle accident leaving one person entrapped.

According to the fire department they were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. to River Road near the George II Highway intersection.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found one person entrapped. That person was extricated and flown to a trauma center.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated the scene, and all units were cleared around midnight.

The road was closed while units responded to the scene.

No details about the identity or current state of the person entrapped have been released. The cause of the accident has not been released.
