BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — On Monday a man pled guilty to second degree murder in Bladen County Superior Court.

33-year-old James Harrelson received a sentence of 20 to 26 years in prison in connection to a shooting.

The shooting occurred on The Hadd Road in Bladenboro on January 23rd, 2023.

The following day, the son of Jerry Martin called for a welfare check after not haring from his father.

Martin’s home and car were shot, and he was found dead in the home.

As a result of the shooting, four people were charged with driving by the home and shooting in retaliation for Marin reporting that a theft had occurred at his property.

Evidence pointed Harrelson to be one of the shooters. Two of the others involved are still awaiting sentencing and the others already pled guilty to charges related to the shooting.
