Alliance for Cape Fear Trees to giveaway more than 1,400 trees to community members
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Alliance for Cape Fear Trees (ACFT), Enterprise Mobility Foundation, and Arbor Day Foundation are giving away free trees to the community.
The rain or shine event will take place on Friday at Legion Stadium in Wilmington.
ACFT will giveaway more than 1,400 native trees at the event to residents of the lower Cape Fear with a limit of two per household.
If there are any trees leftover, the giveaway will resume on Saturday at 9 a.m. until the trees are distributed.
Attendees can choose from the following trees:
- Southern live oak
- Swamp chestnut oak
- Southern red oak
- Tulip poplar
- Longleaf pine
- American sycamore
- Bald cypress
- Red maple
- Sweetbay magnolia
- Blackgum
- Persimmon
- Eastern redbud
- American hornbeam
- Pawpaw
ACFT recommends learning more about the trees to make sure it is the right fit.
