Nigel Edge formally indicted on murder charges in Southport mass shooting

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County grand jury has issued an indictment against Nigel Max Edge, charging him with multiple counts including first-degree murder in connection with the deadly mass shooting last fall in Southport.
Court documents show the indictment was returned January 5, and includes three counts of first-degree murder for the killings of Solomon Banjo, Joy Rogers and Michael Durbin. Additional counts in the indictment include multiple attempted first-degree murder charges, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury charges, and discharging a firearm into an occupied property.
The charges stem from a mass shooting that took place the night of September 27, when Edge is accused of opening fire on patrons at American Fish Company, a waterfront bar in Southport.
Edge is being held without bond at the Brunswick County Detention Center.
His next court date is February 2.
