Employee found dead at Smithfield Tar Heel facility
TAR HEEL, NC (WWAY) — A spokesperson from Smithfield Foods confirmed that an employee was found unresponsive on Saturday at the Tar Heel plant. The person was pronounced dead.
OSHA was notified and the company says they’re fully cooperating with the investigation.
The spokesperson said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with our co-worker’s family.”
No other information has been released at this time including the employee’s identity or the cause of death.
