Hampstead man faces at least 25 years in prison for multiple child sex offenses

HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — A Hampstead man who was arrested in February on multiple child sex offense charges was sentenced to prison in September.

Justin Matthew-Randall Smith, 33 at the time of arrest, was sentenced to 25 to 35 years in prison for offenses in October of 2021 and February of 2025.

According to court documents, Smith pled guilty to one count of statutory rape of a child by an adult, three counts of statutory sex offense with child by adult, and one count of ATT statutory rape of child by adult.

The court also recommended psychiatric treatment and sex offender treatment for Smith. Smith must also remit court costs and jail fees. He is ordered to have no contact with the victim and register as a sex offender. Through post-release, Smith must pay his attorney fees.
