Woman charged with murder after deadly crash outside of Satellite Bar and Lounge

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — According to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, the woman who allegedly struck and killed a man outside of a bar is now facing a murder charge.

An additional charge was added for Michelle Lane Masiello, 34, on Wednesday. Masiello is now charged with second degree murder.

Police said Masiello was driving a Jeep and hit a man standing near the edge of the side parking lot along Greenfield Street on December 29, 2025. EMS pronounced 31-year-old Alec Chambers dead at the scene. 

According to police, Masiello had just exited Satellite Bar and Lounge prior to the crash.

Masiello was also charged with death by vehicle, driving while impaired, reckless driving to endanger, and injury to real property
