NCDOT photos show snow-covered roads and bridges across the Cape Fear

SOUTHEASTERN NC (WWAY) — Traffic cameras from the North Carolina Department of Transportation show snow-covered streets and bridges across the Cape Fear following the winter storm.

The images highlight hazardous driving conditions, with snow and ice visible on major roadways, secondary streets and bridges throughout the region.

Transportation officials have repeatedly warned that bridges and overpasses are especially dangerous, as they tend to freeze faster than other road surfaces.

NCDOT continues to urge drivers to avoid travel if possible and to stay off the roads while crews work to monitor conditions and improve safety.
