Wilmington Golf Course turns into snowy playground as kids hit the hills

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Many Wilmington residents headed to the golf course on Monday, not to work on their par, but to enjoy some winter sledding.

Kids of all ages headed to the Wilmington Municipal Golf Course to shred the rolling hills.

With schools closed and the ground covered in snow, families turned the course into a winter playground, sliding down the slopes on pool floats, body boards, and snowboards.

Snowfall is a rare sight in the Cape Fear, and kids were quick to make the most of it.

Among them, Olivia Graf, who says she’d love to see this winter wonderland return.

“I think it was amazing, yeah, oh I wish it happened every year,” said Graf.

And while the snow won’t last, many say the memories will.

Many kids are hoping this winter blast won’t be the last time Cape Fear sees a snow day like this.
