Wilmington, NC (WWAY) — Ukrainians in the Carolinas will host a community rally and vigil for Ukraine at Innes Park this Sunday, February 22nd starting at 4PM.

The community is invited to rally in Wilmington to commemorate Ukraine’s resilience and courage since Russia’s full scale invasion on February 24th, 2022.

Wilmington will be joining many cities holding rallies and events around the U.S. and the world.

Attendees are asked by Ukrainians in the Carolinas to bring flags, signs, and display the blue and yellow colors of Ukraine’s flag symbolizing freedom.

Mayor Bill Saffo, County Commissioner Rob Zapple, veteran of the U.S. Army Sargeant Mike Avellino, and a war refugee from Ukraine will be speakers at the event.

An information table from the Fayetteville nonprofit volunteer group Ukrainian Efforts will also be available at the event.

In the event of bad weather, the event could be rescheduled.
