Two dead after Wednesday’s motorcycle crash on Oleander Drive

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two people are now confirmed dead following a motorcycle crash on Oleander Drive Wednesday afternoon, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
Police said the motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger in the other vehicle involved was taken to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where they later died from their injuries.
The motorcycle driver has been identified as Tacoma Reda, 22, of Wilmington. The passenger in the other vehicle was identified as Ofelia Landa, 62, also of Wilmington.
The crash happened around 1:45 p.m. in the 5900 block of Oleander Drive.
Investigators said the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed. Witnesses told officers they estimated the motorcycle was traveling between 90 and 100 mph before the collision.
Police said the investigation is still ongoing.
